Are you new to the island?
For families who have just PCSd to Okinawa and are requiring before and after school care:
• School Age Program (SAP) is for children 5 to 12 years of age.
• Bring a copy of your orders to the Resource and Referral Office, Bldg. 1850.
• Fill out an application for your child to be put on the waiting list.

Do you occasionally need more child care than your current child care arrangements can provide?
Air Force extended duty child care is available for:

. Working for more than 10 hours a shift

Join the Parent Advisory Board (PAB)
The PAB meets quarterly to enhance parent participation and education, develop an annual parent involvement plan, and work together to improve programming and support to the Child Development Centers, Family Child Care and School Age Programs.

The Himawari School Age Program (SAP) is located in Bldg. 439 across from the Kadena Base library. The Shima No Ko School Age Program is located inside Gate 3, next to Karing Kennels.

The School Age Programs offer before and after school programming as well as full day programming during holidays and school breaks. Available to students grades 1 - 6, the facility is supervised and provides a safe and healthy environment for children. The program is affiliated with the Boys and Girls Clubs of  America and is recognized by the National After School Association as an accredited program.
